Rev Rachael
Ladies and gentlemen. Friends and family.
We are gathered here in the beauty of Nature to celebrate and bear witness to the marriage of Bride 1 and Bride 2. Today we come together to bless this marriage and their vows with our love.
Rev Rachael (facing East, lights sage)
I call upon the East.
Breath of Life.
And creature of the Air.
The Soaring Hawk.
Be with us in this sacred rite.
(Smudge Bride 1 and Bride 2)
Rev Rachael (facing South, holding athame)
I call upon the South.
Passion and Creativity.
And the creature of the Flame.
The Running Horse.
Be with us in this sacred rite.
(Touch Bride 1 and Bride 2 with athame)
Rev Rachael (facing West, holding shells)
I call upon the West.
Mystery and Emotion.
And the creature of the Water.
The Diving Ocra.
Be with us in this sacred rite.
(Place shells in Bride 1 and Bride 2’s hands)
Rev Rachael (facing North, holding crystals)
I call upon the North.
Stability and Growth.
And the creature of the Earth.
The Protective Bear.
Be with us in this sacred rite.
(Place crystals in Bride 1 and Bride 2’s hands)
Rev Rachael
May you be so Blessed.
(Place shells and crystals on altar)

In ancient times, a handfasting was a contract between lovers to remain faithful to one another for a year and a day, living in a trial marriage. At the end of that time, they could walk away, no regrets. Or, they could solemnize the union with an official marriage.
Today, the handfasting is still used this way, as an engagement or as part of the wedding. A vow between partners to always lend a helping hand. To catch one another with they stumble. To hold one another through the good and the bad. To be bound flesh to flesh for as long as love shall last.
If this is your wish today, to be handfasted to one another, til the end of your days, please say, “I do”.
Bride 1 and Bride 2: I do.
Rev Rachael:
May I have the rings?
(Gets rings from ringbearers)
The ring is a circle‑ never ending. It goes on and on forever. Let these rings be a constant reminder of your love and devotion to one another.
Do you, Bride 1, promise to love, honor, and cherish, Bride 2, all your life and take her as your wife?
Bride 1: I do. (Says vows and places ring on Bride 2’s finger)
Rev Rachael:
Do you, Bride 2, promise to love, honor, and cherish, Bride 1, all of your life and take her as your wife?
Bride 2: I do. (Says vows and places ring on Bride 2’s finger)
Rev Rachael:
By the power vested in me, by the State of Oregon, I now pronounce you wife and wife.
You may kiss your bride.
(A family Fly plaid is exchanged)
Rev Rachael
open circle with broom
place broom at the end of the aisle
(As this part is spoken, Bride 1 and Bride 2 walk down the aisle to jump the broom)
Ladies and Gentlemen. Beloved family and friends.
It is my great pleasure to introduce to you Mrs. and Mrs. Bride.
